Kristen Stewart Debuts Red Hot Hair at Letterman and NYC Eclipse Premiere

Fekkai Celebrity Stylist Adir Abergel transformed Kristen Stewart's tresses from day to night (for her David Letterman appearance and the New York premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), and collaborated with Marie Robinson to color her hair strawberry blonde.

DAY: Abergel created a feminine and flirty style for Kristen's David Letterman appearance.
GET THE LOOK: Abergel started by applying the Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip at the roots and working throughout the hair. Using a round brush, he blow-dried the hair straight, and spritzed the Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist for added shine. Adir curled the hair using a 1-inch curling iron, and sprayed with Fekkai Coiff Ocèanique Tousled Wave Spray to create the flirty texture. He then pulled the hair back loosely and secured it by knotting at the nape of the neck. To finish of the look, Adir sprayed Fekkai Advanced Sheer Hold Hairspray.

COLOR: Adir teamed up with Clairol Celebrity Stylist, Marie Robinson, to dye Kristen's hair strawberry blonde. Abergel encouraged Stewart to return to her natural roots, and pulled images from the 1950's for inspiration.
GET THE LOOK: To achieve Stewart's strawberry blonde color, Abergel suggests using the Fekkai Salon Color 6R Copper-Lucy.

NIGHT: Abergel created a soft and romantic braid for Kristen Stewart’s Premiere in New York for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
GET THE LOOK: Abergel started by applying the Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip at the roots and dried her hair with his hands. Next, Adir applied a dime of Fekkai Coiff Nonchalant Piecing & Forming Wax for added texture. Creating a side part, he braided the hair across the side line towards the opposite side of the head. With his fingers, he carefully pulled pieces of hair to soften and shape the face. To secure the look, he tied the hair into a loose knot. Adir sprayed Fekkai Advanced Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night hold.

Fekkai products are available At fekkai.com, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue.

Super Shiny Hair For $10

My girl, Beth Shapouri, over at Glamour Magazine has ridiculously shiny hair. But she'll be the first person to admit that she has a drugstore product, and not good genes, to thank for her lustrous locks.

"The question I get asked most by Girls in the Beauty Department readers - hands down - is what I use on my hair to get it to shine. The answer was, is and, for the foreseeable future, will be a product that costs about $10. It's pretty straightforward: I just slather it on every few days and it leaves behind a layer of shine that wears away over a couple of shampoos. But there are a few things I'd warn you to take into consideration here. It can weigh down fine hair, so it's not for everyone. If you're using the colored ones (to amp up your hue), you have to rinse your palms immediately or they'll get stained. And some hair types can handle it more often than others, so you have to experiment to find your magic number of days - use it too often and it'll change the texture of your hair slightly (but not permanently)."

Thanks for the tip, Beth!

Britney Spears Is Blonde Again

Look who's blonde again! It's Britney, b*tch.

After months of rocking a darker do, Brit Brit decided to lighten up. So, this past weekend, she went to Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood and changed up her color...which looks great on her, I think.

Even more remarkable are her new extensions. This is the first time I can remember them not looking embarrassingly busted. By golly, they actually look like real hair growing out of Britney's head...not like Sean Preston and Jayden James wove mommy's weave in during arts & crafts class.

I give Britney's new do 3 enthusiastic thumbs up.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2010: Funky, Chunky Haircolor

Backstage at New York Fashion Week, my girl Megan McIntyre (from Daily Makeover) recognized an emerging trend for fall 2010: funky, chunky haircolor.

"Looks like it’s time to break out the Manic Panic. The big beauty trend for hair at Fashion Week was bright, chunky streaks of color that brought to mind punk-inspired street style circa 1996. At the Cynthia Rowley Fall 2010 fashion show, Eva Scrivo for Wella Professionals custom colored hair extensions in shades of emerald, lapis, amethyst, navy and turquoise to replicate the rich jewel tones present in the collection. Each hair extension was completely saturated with professional salon haircolor and then woven into the hair and styled, creating an element of surprise and intrigue when models hit the runway.

Super stylist Ted Gibson for beauty.com went for a version of the trend that was a little easier to DIY at the Vena Cava Fall 2010 fashion show (shown left). He used Streekers to color hair extensions in shades of hot pink, purple and green, then pulled them back into the models' slightly mussed ponytails to give a "downtown, cool feel," to the otherwise equestrian look.

We think this is one trend that just might hit the trifecta of translating in all three worlds: runway, red carpet and real world. This is the second season funky color has been featured at Fashion Week (the girls at the Spring 2010 Proenza Schouler fashion show rocked lovely lilac streaks) and Lady Gaga recently caused a stir at the Grammys with her own spin on the Crayola color trend. Adding a bright streak of color to your coif is an easy way to add a hip edge to your regularly scheduled hairstyle without a huge commitment. Now all you really have to decide is which happy hue you want to adorn your hair with."

New Moon Star Gets Her Hair Twilighted

Well-known in the industry for his cutting-edge style, hairstylist Stuart Gavert was contacted to do the hair color for the cast of the major motion picture Twilight - including Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart!

Earlier this month, New Moon's own Christian Serratos (who plays Angela) visited the Gavert Atelier Salon and received her very own set of "twilights."

Inspired by the movie and its stars, Gavert launched a concept of color on highlighting called twilights; the idea is to create highlights that can prolong visits to the salon for touch-ups (perfect for long months of filming) and to use a process that is not damaging to the hair.

For her day of beauty, the super sweet actress preferred pizza and Diet Coke for lunch and had a fun time being pampered.

Serratos added in some pieces to lengthen her "lob" for Monday's premiere of New Moon.

Pastis: Breakfast of Beauty Champions

Last week while in town for New York Fashion Week, I shared a delish breakfast with beauty friends Amber, Nancy and my mane man, Jason Backe.

You might remember Jason from a post earlier this year, when the two of us hung out watching the Grammys - and he up and decided to dye my hair.

Jason is one of the most sought after colorists in New York, where he co-owns the Ted Gibson Salon. His list of celebrity clients (Anne Hathaway, Renée Zellweger, Amerie, Idina Menzel, Eltra Rossalini, and Lake Bell) reads like an issue of Us Magazine.

As if it's even possible, Jason's schedule book is about to get even more, well, booked. In the October 2009 issue of Allure Magazine, he was named "the best of the best." If you're in or passing through the NYC area, do yourself a favor and make an appointment. Get in where you fit in. Jason's worth the wait.

Check out Jason's blog on Daily Makeover and follow my mane man on Twitter.

Kim Kardashian Bids Bye Bye to Blonde & Unveils Darker Do

Tis the season for going back to your roots.

Yesterday, Tyra let her real hair down on the fifth season premiere of her daytime talk show. Not to be outdone, Kim Kardashian said bye bye to blonde and returned to her naturally dark do.

I have to admit that I saw this coming. The lighter locks were just okay, but she is ten times more stunning as a raven-haired beauty. Shake what Kris Jenner gave you, Kim!

Is Blonde Kim Kardashian Having More Fun With Makeup?

Kim Kardashian’s new blonde hair got me thinking about whether or not her makeup choices have changed. Is she using different hues to compliment her new do?

For the answer, I contacted my friend and Kim’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic. He told me, "Her makeup is not drastically different. We’re keeping in the warm tones for a softer look. Bronze skin, softer lashes, softer brows. Peachy tones. It’s so much fun doing her makeup as a blonde!"

Kim Kardashian Goes Blonde - For Real This Time!

Kim Kardashian is a blonde. And unlike last time, it's not a publicity stunt (okay, maybe it is) or some belated April Fools joke. This time around, it's for real for real. She writes on her blog:

This time it's for real, guys! I went blonde!!! I had been considering it ever since I wore that blonde wig, and I just decided to go for it!! What do you think? I am really loving it! My hairstylist Clyde Haygood orchestrated the whole thing and Rebecca from Goodform salon dyed it! I'm debuting my new look at the Teen Choice Awards tonight!

Thoughts?

Even Vampires Gotta Get Their Roots Done

Anyone else here a fan of HBO's True Blood? If you happened to catch the season 2 premiere episode, "Nothing But the Blood," you probably noticed that Eric made an appearance with foils in his hair.

I kinda like that they didn't address or try to explain Eric's tin foil situation...so I'm forced to invent my own back story. Like maybe Eric thought he'd get some torture and bloodsucking in while his hair color was processing.

Kristen Stewart Lets Her Hair Down

The other day, I posted some photos of Twilight star Kristen Stewart's new cropped, black coiff.

In those pics, her hair was pulled back and she seemed a little camera shy about revealing her new short cut.

But today, Kristen let her hair down - proudly rocking her Joan Jett inspired shag/mullet. It also appears that she's embracing the role through her wardrobe.

Kristen Stewart Cuts Her Hair & Dyes It Jett Black!

For her upcoming role as Joan Jett in The Runaways (yeah...Philly in the house!), Twilight star Kristen Stewart chopped her locks and dyed 'em black.

Rumor has it that filming for Eclipse, the third installment in the Twilight saga, will begin in August 2009. Kristen's hair, obviously, won't be back to its normal length by then - so I'm waiting to see how the hair team plans to remedy this conundrum.
