Kim Kardashian Getting A Wax Figure

Today, Kim Kardashian finally revealed the mystery behind this photo she posted on her blog a few weeks ago...

"I've been keeping you guys in the dark about my big announcement and teasing you with my #karwax tweets… but I can finally reveal that I am getting my own wax figure at Madame Tussauds in NYC!!!!

This is one of the greatest honors ever and I am so thrilled and excited. Now I will never have to leave NYC… I’ve officially gone bi-coastal! LOL"

Okay...you know I love Kim and all, but does she really need a wax figure? I guess the better question is why people create wax figures in the first place. I mean, what is the point? Will you go see Kim's wax twin next time you're in NYC?

Any guesses?

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Bronzer How-To

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hello Mario!

My question is about bronzer. Actually, I have a few questions. I am so confused! First, how do you choose your perfect shade of bronzer? Second, what is the best technique for applying powder bronzer? And do you have any favorites you can recommend?

Thanks a lot!
Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,

When chosing a shade of bronzer, you should consider the following: dark skin tones look best with bronzers that have red in them. Lighter skin usually looks good with a more pale/pinkish bronzer. When applying bronzer, I like to frame the entire face. Sweep the bronzer along the hairline, on hollows of the cheeks and along your jawline. Don't forget to apply a bit to the neck as well.

Because I use bronzer pretty much on most of the face, I prefer to go with a non-shimmery, powder bronzer. My faves are Smashbox Bronze Lights Bronzer in Suntan Matte* and Dior Bronze Matte Sunshine SPF 20. If you're looking to achieve a bronze look but want to glow as well, try Eye M Glam highlighter at Giella.com*. Apply it on the cheekbones, inner corner of eyes, bridge of nose and on brow bones. It has a golden glow that looks amazing with bronzer. Thanks for visiting MMwM!

xo,
Mario

Using a Sephora Collection Professionnel Platinum Eyeshadow Brush #18, apply Sephora Collection Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in Bling Bling Style 76 by pressing the bristles onto the outer corners of the eyes and sweeping the color along the lid toward the inner corner. Repeat with Sephora Collection Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in Mad for Macaroons 62.

Step 4:
Curl your lashes with the Sephora Collection Black Eyelash Curler, and finish with two coats of Sephora Collection Atomic Volume Mascara in Black.

CHEEKS

Place two fingers next to your nostrils, and starting where the outer finger leaves off, gently sweep Sephora Collection Blush Me! Mono in Meringue Jalouse 2 in an upward and outward motion along the top of your cheekbones with a blush brush.

LIPS

Using a lip brush for precision, apply Sephora Collection Cream Lipstick in Valentine 09. Blot with tissue and reapply twice to saturate and define.

Beautyblender: Holiday Beauty Gift Guide

Let me speak frankly. If you’re applying your foundation with anything but the Beautyblender sponge, you’re doing it wrong. Look…I don’t mean to put you on blast, but I’m here to give it to you straight. And when I tell you that Beautyblender is, hands down, the best foundation applicator, I speak the truth.

The point of foundation is to fool the eye of the beholder into thinking you were blessed with a flawless complexion. But if you’re applying it incorrectly, or with inferior tools, you just look like you’re wearing a makeup mask. And who wants that? Nobody, that’s who. The difference between foundation that looks like foundation and foundation that looks like skin is Beautyblender.

Since I was introduced to Beautyblender in 2007, we have been in a monogamous relationship. It is the only tool I use to apply my foundation. Invented by Hollywood makeup artists, this sponge leaves you with a professional finish. Applying makeup with fingers or sharp-edged triangular sponges can waste makeup and can leave visible streaks. Beautyblender’s elliptical shape makes allows you to access hard-to-reach areas with ease. Its suede-like texture repels product, so your foundation actually ends up on your face - rather than absorbed by the sponge. And its unique curves fit the contours of your face, leaving your makeup dazzling and undetectable.

I even use it to apply my concealer and cream blushes. And if you have problem skin, I can’t recommend anything better for magically disguising blemishes and hyperpigmentation. Beautyblender is reusable (perfect for those green gals), latex-free, non-allergenic, and odor free...and makes a great holiday gift.

Give your beauty-loving BFF the gift of perfect skin with the Hot Pink Holiday Kit, which includes Beautyblender and 3 oz Blendercleanser in an organza drawstring carry pouch....tagged for gift giving!

You know who is also a fan of Beautyblender? My pal, and Celebrity Makeup Artist, Mario Dedivanovic. Watch the Beautyblender in action, as Mario makes up the beautiful face of his muse, Kim Kardashian.

"I had fun glamming Kim up for her Vegas birthday," he said. "I did her makeup that night while she was laying down on this big, comfortable spa table/reclining chair and it was actually great doing makeup that way. It's more exciting when they can’t see what I'm doing the whole time because they get surprised at the end."

Mario Dedivanovic's TWIPs of the Day

My pal, celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, has a great new column over on his blog. Every day, he takes readers to beauty school - sharing ingenious beauty tips and product recommendations.

For a precise and very defined crease, Mario suggests using Sephora's Nano Eyeliner to draw a line right on or under the crease. With a small brush, blend the line going up and/or out. Keep it in place with a touch of translucent powder.

To steal the sexy nude lip Mario gave Kim Kardashian for her birthday, use MAC Ravishing Lipstick, topped with MAC Lipglass in Florabundance.

For natural looking skin, Mario recommends Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer.

How To Get Khloe Kardashian's Bridal Glow

My pal and celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic shared the secrets to Khloe Kardashian's beautiful bridal glow with OK! Magazine.

All brides are radiant, but Kardashian makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic gave Khloe that special something extra. "He wanted her youthful look to shine through and kept her makeup natural and dewy," says Kim, OK!'s contributing beauty editor. Mario gave Khloe subtle, smoky eyes using copper and bronze hues. (He blended the golden shade from NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Méditerranée with Antiqued Eye Shadow by MAC) "He coated Khloe's lashes with Lancome Hypnose mascara - Khloe's fave!" Kim adds, "And to get her luminous skin, Mario applied blush in Orgasm by NARS and Bronze Matte bronzer by Dior. Finally, Mario applied Revlon Creme Gloss in Pink Cami to give Khloe's lips a natural color and shine." And Khloe's tumbling waves? "Our hairstylist Frankie Payne blew out her hair using Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray," Kim tells OK!. "He waved her hair in small sections using a double-barrel curling iron, but kept the texture piecy and tousled. Then to finish the look, he applied a dab of T3 Boost by Orlando Pita."

Kim Kardashian Talks To WWD About Her New Perfume

In today's issue of WWD, Kim Kardashian opens up about her new perfume:

By her own admission, Kim Kardashian’s debut fragrance has been a long time coming.

“When I was little, my sister Kourtney and I tried to make our own perfume by picking flowers and putting them in the blender, because that’s how we thought fragrances were made,” Kardashian said with a laugh during a phone interview Tuesday. “Our parents thought we were crazy — and it smelled totally gross!”

She’s come a long way since throwing jasmine in a blender: her first fragrance, with Lighthouse Beauty, is due in February.

Chris Lighty, a founding partner in Lighthouse Beauty, said, “Kim has created her own brand, which has really be able to extend off-screen and out of the reality show arena it started in. She’s not a one-horse show.”

And Kardashian is also proving herself to be a very involved creator. “I wanted something rich and creamy and sexy, but still youthful,” said Kardashian. “I met with Claude [Dir, a master perfumer at Givaudan] and had an in-depth meeting about what I liked and didn’t like, and he and his team came up with seven samples based on that.”

Then the fun really began: “I liked the base notes on one, the heart notes on another — we started mixing it up,” said Kardashian, who loves tuberose and gardenia notes; both made it into her scent. “I wanted to make sure I liked it in every single stage. It’s really cool to know that’s what is in this bottle is exactly how I want to smell.”

The final juice has crisp top notes, a heart of jasmine, tuberose and gardenia, and a drydown of tonka bean, jacaranda wood and sandalwood. The initial collection comprises four eaux de parfum stockkeeping units: 1 oz. for $32, 1.7 oz. for $45, 3.4 oz. for $65 and a 0.33-oz. rollerball for $16.

The fragrance will have a three-month exclusive with Sephora, and will roll out to department store doors “around Mother’s Day,” said Lighty.“

Kim Kardashian’s first fragrance is a beautiful floral that is both bold and sultry,” said Allison Slater, vice president of retail marketing for Sephora, noting that Kardashian will do in-store appearances to promote the scent. “It is the perfect accessory for everyday wear with a sophisticated edge to compliment an evening out too. Florals are one of our most popular and highly sought-after fragrance families. Many of our top-performing collections have a distinctive floral note and this, combined with Kim’s wide appeal, will undoubtedly be popular with our clients.”

The scent’s bottle, designed by Scott Oshry and Sean Brosmith of Maesa, is translucent black with a pearlized pink neck and a pink aluminum KK logo, which appears on the bottle and is engraved into the neck. Kardashian made her final bottle decision in a novel way: she polled her 2.5 million followers on Twitter. “I posted pictures of a hot-pink version and a pale-pink version and asked my fans to weigh in on which was better. The overwhelming favorite was the pale-pink cap — everyone said it looked more sophisticated. I really wanted to know what my fans preferred. They’ll be the ones buying it! We will continue to interact with fans this way on this project.” Added Lighty: “We will do location visits with Twitter — visits that will only be announced via Twitter to engage Kim’s true followers to come and meet her and maybe get a bottle of the scent,” he said, noting that Lighthouse Beauty is employing a similar strategy with Power by 50 Cent, which bowed in September.

While executives declined to discuss sales projections, industry sources estimated the eponymous scent could do as much as $50 million at retail in its first year on counter.

A multiplatform advertising and promotional campaign is planned, which will include Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and print advertising. Print ads will break in February fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazines, and the bulk of the online campaign will be begin at launch. “Kim is one of the most Googled women in America,” said Lighty. “When people are looking for pictures or gossip on Kim, we have to make sure we are there with the message. If it’s a male looking for a picture, we’ll try to get him to buy the fragrance for his significant other. If it’s a woman looking for gossip, we will be there too.”

Now that she’s done with her first fragrance, Kardashian is proceeding full speed ahead. She’s completed a second fragrance which could bow in 2011, and has aspirations of doing a color cosmetics line. She’s also begun filming the fourth season of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” (the scent will be the subject of a story line). She continues to run Dash, a multiboutique enterprise, with her sisters, serves as chief stylist for Shoedazzle.com and has put her stamp on a series of fitness DVDs.

Spoiled Pretty Exclusive: Kim Kardashian Emmy Beauty Breakdown!!!

By now, you know that I love me some Kim Kardashian makeup. So when celebrity makeup artist (and the biggest sweetheart who ever LIVED) Mario Dedivanovic offered me an exclusive beauty breakdown of her Emmys look, I pinched myself so hard, I swear it left a mark.

So without further ado, Mario shares the products and tips to steal Kim Kardashian's 2009 Emmy Awards makeup...

Kim was wearing a gorgeous white gown and I wanted the focus to be on her eyes. I had
custom blended this pretty shade of blue shadow at GIELLA custom blend cosmetics in NYC and was waiting for the perfect occasion to dip into it. With her hair slicked back and a white off the shoulder gown, I was certain that it would work with the rest of the face done clean and dewy, with a nude matte lip.

I prepped Kim’s skin with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer first, followed by Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup all over. To set skin, I applied a bit of Laura Mercier's Loose Setting Powder in Beige. Her brows are filled in with Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil, concentrating on the outer corners.

For her eyes, I sprayed a bit of water on an eyeshadow brush (this picks up and holds loose eyeshadow better) and dipped it into Aquagirl eyeshadow by GIELLA - custom blended by yours truly ;-). I applied Aquagirl all over the eyelids up to the crease, blending well so there are no lines.

On the inner corners of the eyes, apply GIELLA's b-dazzle eyeshadow. Use the leftovers on the brush to lightly sweep onto the brow bone. You dont want the brow bone to appear very shiny or light as it will look dated. Smoke Aquagirl shadow along the lower lash line as well. For more drama, you can take it all the way into the inner corners. Use Fascinating Eye Kohl by MAC on the inner rims of the eyes. Curl lashes a couple of times and apply two coats of Lancome Hypnose Mascara on top and bottom lashes. If you want super long lashes like Kim, apply a few individual long lashes to each eye.

Kim's skin is bronzed with
Casino by NARS. Use a bit on a brush and apply it along the hairline. With a smaller brush, apply more onto the hollows of the cheeks. Use Orgasm by NARS on the apples of the cheeks. To highlight the cheekbones and bridge of nose, I swept a tiny bit of b-dazzle shadow by GIELLA and blended with a clean brush.

I lined Kim's lips with
Subculture by MAC, then blended a dab of the Dior foundation to her lips. Blot that with a tissue and use Honeylove Lipstick, also by MAC.

Giella, of GIELLA custom blend cosmetics has decided to make and sell Aquagirl eyeshadow and is offering a 15% discount!!! Click here and enter makeupbymario for the discount. b-dazzle eyeshadow, one of Mario’s all-time favorites, can also be purchased on the site with the same discount code!

Love Mario as much as I do? Be sure to visit his blog regularly...and follow him on Twitter!

Mwah, Mario!
